KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, will deliver People Flow® solutions - including 36 elevators and the revolutionary KONE UltraRope® hoisting technology - to a new high-rise development in Nanjing, the capital of the Jiangsu province in eastern China. 
 
The new building will rise up to 416.6 meters and host a Kimpton Hotel. It will become the tallest of the planned five high-rise buildings in the Nanjing Financial City Complex and the structurally tallest building in the entire city. Once completed, the Nanjing Kimpton Hotel will also be the highest Kimpton Hotel in the world. 
 
KONE will deliver altogether 11 KONE MonoSpace® elevators and 25 KONE MiniSpace™ elevators that will be traveling at speeds of up to 10.0 m/s. In addition, the order includes the revolutionary KONE UltraRope® carbon fiber based hoisting technology and KONE E-Link™, a facility management tool designed to secure the best possible tenant service quality.

  KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to deliver 20 escalators to a new metro extension in Stockholm, Sweden. The first phase of the blue line extension - one of the city's largest infrastructure projects - will add another four kilometers and two new stations to the existing metro line in the Barkarby district, northwest of the capital.

Stockholm is one of the fastest growing European capitals with an annual population increase of approximately 40,000. Barkarbystaden is a whole new residential area currently being built with some 18,000 new apartments and commercial spaces. The extension of the blue metro line will start from the Akalla district and travel via Barkarbystaden to central Barkarby, which will be an important regional interchange station linking the metro, commuter trains and buses. The new metro extension is an important part of Stockholm's urban development and will enable metro travel through the Nacka, Barkarby and Arenastaden areas.

  To support smooth people flow in and around the two new metro stations, KONE will deliver 8 KONE TransitMaster™140 escalators and 12 KONE TransitMaster™190 escalators to the project.

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, will deliver 107 escalators to the first phase of the Metro Line R2 in Jinan, the capital of eastern China's Shandong province. Traditionally a major bus transportation hub, Jinan opened its first metro line only in 2019. Currently, two lines are in service.

  The new Metro Line R2 will be 36.4 kilometers in length, including a 34.5-kilometer underground section. It is projected to become the east-west backbone of the Jinan Rail Transit network, traveling between Wangfuzhuang and Pengjiazhuang through 19 stations. The line will connect some major areas in Jinan, such as the old town, the newer part of the city in the west, and the Jinan High-tech Industrial Development Zone in the eastern part of the city. The Metro Line R2 will also be connected to the two existing metro lines R1 and R3.

For efficient people flow, KONE will equip 10 of the stations from Shengchanlu to Pengjiazhuang with 107 KONE TransitMaster™ escalators. The contract also includes two years of standard maintenance.

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to supply and install more than 70 elevators for the Grand Paris Express metro project in Paris, the capital of France.

KONE was selected by Société du Grand Paris (SGP) to deliver elevators in the stations and related buildings across part of the southern section of line 15 of the Grand Paris Express metro. The 33-kilometer-long southern section of line 15 will pass through 22 municipalities and is expected to serve over a million local residents, with 300,000 trips per day. Each station on the line will connect directly with metro, tram, bus or the RER commuter train lines.

KONE will work together with SGP to provide and install over 70 KONE MonoSpace® elevators, which are currently expected to be in service in 2025. The KONE MonoSpace® elevators with the KONE EcoDisc® traction technology, renowned for its reliability and energy-efficiency, will enable smooth and safe transport to and from the platforms. In order to provide safety without compromising on the aesthetics required by SGP, KONE has designed elevators using glass walls, with the option of opaque or transparent glass.

  KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, will deliver 83 escalators and 20 elevators to the second phase of the Metro Line 6 in Chongqing, in southwest China.

The Line 6 will become an important connection running through the Liangjiang New Area in the north of the city. The Liangjiang New Area and especially its Yuelai district are important hubs bringing together international business, exhibitions and conferences, leisure tourism, cultural creativity, and ecological living. The new metro connection will further accelerate the ongoing eco-city, smart city, and exhibition city developments in the area.

  Spanning over 14 kilometers in total, the phase two of the Chongqing Metro Line 6 will travel from Yuelai station to Shaheba station through seven stops. It will be connected to three other existing lines of the Chongqing metro system. KONE will help smooth the flow of people along the new line by equipping the stations with 83 KONE TransitMaster™ escalators, 16 KONE MonoSpace® elevators, and four KONE MiniSpace™ elevators. Additionally, the contract includes two years of standard maintenance.

  Punggol Digital District is a 50-hectare smart and sustainable development that will testbed new concepts of living, working, and delivering services. It is being masterplanned and developed by JTC, and designed by WOHA Architects. The tallest towers in the district's integrated business park development will be around 55 meters and 12 storeys high and host a wide variety of innovative digital businesses.

KONE Singapore Punggol Digital District Press release

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to provide KONE elevators and escalators at Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, the United States.

  The equipment will be installed as part of the expansion of the airport's Terminal E serving international passengers. Built in 1974, the terminal currently offers nonstop service to 56 international destinations. The expansion will add four gates.

"KONE is proud to collaborate with Massport on this important project," says Ken Schmid, Executive Vice President, KONE Americas. "Seamless and safe people flow is essential at today's airports. Reliable, dependable KONE elevators, escalators and moving walkways help prevent bottlenecks and keep traffic moving."

  KONE solutions to be installed at Logan include 17 KONE elevators and 12 KONE escalators. The project has a phased opening with the final units expected to be complete in mid-2022.

Architectural services for the facility, which is owned by Massport, the Massachusetts Port Authority, are provided by AECOM. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor.

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to supply 17 elevators to B4 Grande, a new high-end residential tower located in the Opera Downtown District in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

  The 287-meter and 72-storey high skyscraper will accommodate 882 luxury apartments as well as amenities and retails outlets on the promenade level. The apartment types include one to four bedroom units and large penthouses that will be located on the highest floors. The residents of B4 Grande will have panoramic views over the Persian Gulf and surrounding areas.

To enable smooth and safe people flow for the 1,000 residents using the building daily, KONE will deliver 13 KONE MiniSpace™ elevators, three KONE MonoSpace® elevators, and one KONE Motala™ elevator. Additionally, the building will be equipped with a KONE Infotainment screen and KONE E-Link™, a facility management tool designed to secure the best possible tenant service quality in the building.

  KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has set science-based targets for significant reductions in its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the year 2030. KONE's targets are the most ambitious in the industry and have been validated against the latest climate science by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In another first for the industry, KONE has pledged to have carbon neutral operations by 2030.

KONE commits to a 50% cut in the emissions from its own operations (scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2030, compared to a 2018 baseline. This target is in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C, which is currently the most ambitious criteria for setting science-based targets. In addition, KONE targets a 40% reduction in the emissions related to its products' materials and lifetime energy use (scope 3 emissions) over the same target period, relative to orders received.

  "Tackling climate change is the most important challenge of our time. At KONE, we have a key role in making urbanization more sustainable, and we believe that sustainable business practices are a requirement for long-term success. Together with our customers, partners and suppliers, we are now taking even stronger action and leading the way in our industry to create more sustainable urban environments," said Henrik Ehrnrooth, President and CEO, KONE Corporation.

To reach the 50% GHG emissions reduction in its own operations by 2030, KONE will cut its absolute emissions related to its vehicle fleet and facilities. To achieve this, KONE continues with a variety of actions, such as restructuring its vehicle fleet composition to incorporate more hybrid and electric vehicles as well as optimizing vehicle routing for maintenance visits. Additionally, KONE will increase the sourcing of renewable electricity at its facilities worldwide to 100% in 2030. On top of the ambitious emissions reduction targets, KONE will achieve carbon neutral operations by 2030, through offsetting the remaining emissions.

  A clear majority of the emissions associated with KONE's activities occur outside its immediate operations in the value chain. To achieve its product-related emissions reduction target of 40%, KONE will cut the emissions from product lifetime energy use and materials by further improving the energy efficiency and material circularity of its products.

KONE is taking strong actions across the whole supply chain. The company is working together with its suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint from operations and manufacturing, to increase the use of sustainable materials, and to limit the use of hazardous substances. In addition to measuring these impacts, KONE carries out stringent sustainability maturity assessments with its suppliers.

Being a leader in sustainability has long been a strategic target for KONE. Earlier this year, KONE received three outstanding recognitions in climate and sustainability performance: a place on CDP's prestigious A List for Climate Change as the only elevator and escalator company, a position on the same organization's CDP 2019 Supplier Engagement Leaderboard, and 32nd place on Corporate Knights' 2020 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World.

KONE Science-based targets climate pledge press release

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, will deliver 72 elevators and escalators for Contract E3 of the MRT Orange Line (East Section) project in the Bangkok metro in Thailand.

  In total, the MRT Orange Line will be 39.8 kilometers in length and travel between Taling Chang and Min Buri through 28 stations, 21 of which will be underground. Currently, the Bangkok metro has five lines in service and in the future, the subway system is expected to have altogether 10 lines.

To help smooth the flow of passengers along the Bangkok metro, KONE will equip three stations from Yaek Lam Sali station to Khlong Ban Ma station as well as three intervention shafts with 17 KONE S MonoSpace® elevators and 55 KONE TransitMaster™ 120 escalators. In addition, the contract includes KONE E-Link™ equipment monitoring system.

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to deliver 95 elevators and escalators to Nanfeihong Plaza, a new mixed-use development in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province in Northwest China.

  Located in the city's Yanta district, the 470,000-square-meter Nanfeihong Plaza will include a shopping mall, a boutique hotel and two grade-A office towers that will rise up to 196.2 meters and 134.6 meters. The design of the buildings has been inspired by the nearby Hua Shan mountain, one of the five great mountains of China, making Nanfeihong Plaza a unique architectural landmark in the historically important city.

For smooth and safe people flow, KONE will deliver 25 KONE MiniSpace™ elevators, 25 KONE MonoSpace® elevators, 43 KONE TravelMaster™110 escalators and 2 KONE TravelMaster™115 escalators to the development. In addition, the buildings will be equipped with KONE Destination Control System that will reduce waiting and traveling times, and KONE E-link™ monitoring system that will enable monitoring the performance of all the equipment in real time from a single location.

Our solutions and expertise will help create a premium user experience for visitors of Nanfeihong Plaza, at a city of such historic significance," said William B. The project is estimated to be completed in 2022, and it is developed by Xi'an Yancheng Real Estate Co., Ltd.

  KONE booked the order in the second quarter of 2020.
